The Process of Creating High Pressure Laminate Panels

All HPL panels begin with basic construction principles and intelligent layer design. The kraft paper provides structure. The décor paper delivers the appearance. The transparent overlay protects the entire panel. Each layer is impregnated with resin, then layered on top of one another, and sent to the press. Heat is then applied to the layered material at approximately 150°C along with extreme pressure (approximately 1000 psi).

The result is a single, continuous panel that is strong enough for commercial applications but still stylishly elegant enough for high-end interior spaces. Following cooling, all sheets are cut to size, polished, and manually inspected to meet Remica’s standards: durable, attractive, and ready for business.

Protection through Resin Technology

Remica’s advanced resin-based technologies create long-term durability in our HPL panels. Phenolic resin is used in the base layers to provide strength to the HPL panels, while melamine resin is applied to the surface to protect against stains and moisture damage. Together, they create a protective barrier that will resist heat up to 180°C and will absorb less than 0.5% of water. Regardless of how many times an HPL panel is cleaned or how much wear it receives from daily use, the panel remains smooth and continues to function as intended. That is what we call durability.
