Rugged-Surface Designs for Everyday Use
At Remica, all of our HPL products have the common goal of providing a durable design that feels both elegant and can withstand the rigors of daily use.
That is when a high pressure laminate board steps in – a surface that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing for the stresses of everyday use. HPL surfaces resist chipping, fading, and loss of luster.

The Creation of a High Pressure Laminate Board
Each high pressure laminate board product created at Remica begins as a simple combination of three materials: kraft paper, décor paper, and resin. However, the combination of these three materials creates something truly unique.
The creation of an HPL board product involves a blend of science (chemistry), engineering, and some of the proprietary techniques developed by Remica.
The Basics: Layering for Strength
An HPL board begins as layers of kraft paper, décor paper, and a protective layer of resin (transparent). Each of the individual layers was selected based on its specific characteristics. Each layer was combined sequentially to create the foundation for the HPL board
The Core: Impregnating the Resin
Prior to the laminating process, each layer of paper is impregnated with resin. The phenolic resin is absorbed into the kraft paper, while the décor paper and overlay are coated with melamine resin. The impregnation process is not simply about bonding the various components of the high pressure laminate board. Instead, this process is primarily focused on creating a protective barrier against heat, moisture, and wear-and-tear.

Laminating Under High Pressure: The Key to the Process
As far as processes go, this is the most magical part of the entire HPL manufacturing process. During this stage, the various layers are subjected to extreme temperatures and pressures (approximately 150°C/300°F and 1000 PSI). Under these conditions, the layers melt into a single, homogeneous sheet. In essence, the “high-pressure” in high-pressure laminate refers to the temperature and pressure needed to bond the individual layers of the HPL board into a single, continuous sheet.
Finishing: Precision Meets Art
After the laminating process has taken place, the newly created HPL board is then cut to size using high-precision cutting machines. While machines are responsible for precise cuts, it is the eye of the craftsman and the skill of his hand that provides the attention to detail necessary to create a flawless finish.

Remica’s Solid Technology
What makes Remica’s high pressure laminate board a reliable choice as a surface solution is the perfect combination of two processes.
Strength Through Heat and Pressure
Remica’s HPL products begin their manufacturing process with the application of extreme heat and pressure – typically over 150°C and approximately 1000 pounds per square inch (psi). This extreme pressure process combines multiple layers of paper (decorative paper and kraft paper) together to form a single solid core of material. It forms a uniform surface area that will not warp when exposed to excessive heat, will not crack or break when subjected to impact, and will maintain its flatness for many years.
The Resin Chemistry Behind HPL Products
Phenolic resin is used in the manufacture of Remica HPL products to create a strong core within the laminate structure. Melamine resin provides a long-lasting, stain-resistant finish to the surface of the laminate that is also highly resistant to scratches. Ultimately, the combination of phenolic resin and melamine resin used in our high pressure laminate board helps protect the surfaces.

Where You’ll Find High Pressure Laminate Board in Action
This isn’t just material for catalog photos. It’s used in homes, offices, shops, schools, and public spaces, anywhere design meets daily activity.
Modern Kitchens: Built to Withstand Heat and Habit
Your kitchen doesn’t rest, and neither does a high pressure laminate board. It handles knives, heat, moisture, and endless cleaning with ease. Whether you prefer woodgrain warmth, marble patterns, or bold colors, the board holds up beautifully. It’s design you can cook, clean, and live with, every single day.
Retail and Hospitality: Designed for the Rush
Counters in cafés, bars, and hotels face nonstop action. Remica’s high pressure laminate board stands firm through spills, cleaning sprays, and constant wiping. It keeps its look even under pressure: glossy, textured, or matte, always fresh. A perfect fit for interiors that need both beauty and endurance.
Office and Commercial Spaces: Professional by Design
In offices, first impressions count. Reception desks, partitions, and workstations made with high pressure laminate board show off clean lines and confident style. No warping, no fading. Just a professional finish that lasts, practical, polished, and low-maintenance.

Educational and Laboratory Settings: Clean and Reliable
In classrooms and labs, performance matters. These boards resist chemicals, stains, and heat, making them ideal for high-use, high-safety areas. The non-porous surface wipes clean in seconds, hygienic, strong, and steady under real-world conditions.
Bathrooms and Public Spaces: Hygiene Meets Durability
Humidity and wear can destroy ordinary materials, but high pressure laminate board stay steady. It doesn’t swell or discolor, even in steamy public restrooms or locker rooms. Its sealed surface resists water, mold, and bacteria, keeping things clean and sleek.
Displays and Showrooms: Design That Stays Fresh
Every display needs surfaces that hold attention, not fingerprints. High pressure laminate board bring that professional touch, matching brand tones and lighting while resisting scuffs and fading. It’s the silent partner that keeps the spotlight on your products.
